What I Want from the New Macbook Pro

Posted by Miiitch on Thursday, September 4th, 2008

… Assuming there is going to be a new Macbook Pro. The rumors are flying about this (which is not unusual for anything Apple related), but there only a couple of things I really want from a new Macbook Pro.

    The internet DOES need invites.

So recently Pasquale wrote a blog post about how someone added him on MSN and was chatting with him in a manner that was just… well… stupid. And then again, a similar experience (check out all of the pictures, not just that one). Personally, I had never had that experience, until now.
    I just recently created [...]

    Uh, is this Miiitch 2.0?

Posted by Miiitch on Thursday, August 14th, 2008

    Short answer: Yes.

    Long answer:

Let me just point out that this new Wordpress theme is something that I did not make. It comes from Smashing Magazine, which is made blatantly obvious by the link at the bottom of the footer. Also, let me make it clear that although this certainly isn’t the second redesign this site has experienced, it is the second overhaul. All the old posts and comments have disappeared (but not before being safely tucked away in an .xml file on my desktop), and the structure of the website has had a bit of an overhaul, as well.

Posts are no longer defined by a category of “Blog”, “Microblog”, or “Portfolio”. Instead, they are actually categorized, into a list of defining categories that I have yet to come up with. I’ll work on that. I’m also thinking about tagging each post, even though I’m not a big fan of tagging. I know, I’m probably one of the few people in the universe that isn’t. I just prefer using set categories as opposed to coming up with tags for each individual post. Of course, this problem would be remedied if Wordpress would come up with a way to view all of your tags, even ones used on your old posts, and use that list to tag your posts. That way, one post wouldn’t be tagged “Computers” while another is tagged “Computer”. The “s” would make each post separate, which is something I don’t want.

All-in-all, though, the overhaul (as of right now, it’s certainly not complete yet) is going well. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would, but I am slightly disappointed in my current lack of ingenuity and creativity. I would have preferred to use my own theme, built with my ideas in mind, designed to match the new site perfectly. This will have to do, for now. Once I get my mojo back I’ll probably change the theme up. Although, I have to say, this one is really quite stunning. I’m just wondering if there are .psd files available so that a few modifications could be made; “wordpress.Fun” and “a pro theme” could be changed to something a little more relevant to my site.

So that’s enough ranting for one evening. Night. Early morning. Whatever. Don’t be surprised when I make some changes around here.

ps. School starts in two weeks, which may or may not mean that my internet time will be cut short.

I was super excited until I saw the Smashing Magazine link, haha. I am still super happy that you’re back though! Yay!

I love using tags, now. I used to avoid them but I use them now. Though yeah, I wish there was a tag cloud or tag listing *inside* the admin panel while you write a post, it would make things so much easier. But who knows, maybe there’s a plugin for it.

I think we all need a structure overhall once in a while. I know I still haven’t implemented mine, all I’ve done is remove some menu links, fail.

To sum it up, MITCH IS BACK. LET’S ALL DANCE.
